One day after school, Hayakawa decides to stop by his usual secret spot on the roof, where he meets none other than Konno/ who is known throughout the school as being hard to approach and intimidating. Some have even called him scary looking. However, when the lens of his camera is focused on its subject, the once scary Konno becomes like any other high schooler enjoying their life. All these feeling culminate inside of Hayakawa as the two get closer to one another. I mean, how could they not? After all, Konno has everything Hayakawa could ever want. Who wouldn’t be conflicted with such a guy by their side?

My Review
If you’re the kind of manga reader who loves deep, psychological stories, this one might just be for you. But this is a manga that readers will either love or hate. It comes with some trigger warnings and dives into pretty emotional situations. Every review I’ve come across seems to either praise it or is like it—and honestly, I get both reactions. Still, in my opinion, the story is incredibly well-written.
Is it angsty? Absolutely. There are events in the story that shouldn’t happen, and they’ll leave you feeling uneasy. But what sets this manga apart is how well it explains why the characters behave the way they do. While it doesn’t justify their actions, it does give you a clearer understanding of why someone like Hayakawa hides behind a playboy persona. He’s deeply affected by trauma, and his actions are a reflection of his struggle to mask his true self. In some ways, he even projects his pain onto Konno, creating a complex dynamic between the two.
One thing you need to know: this is not a happy story. If you’re after a light, fluffy read, this isn’t the manga for you. It’s raw, emotional, and heavy, but it’s beautifully done. The pacing is spot on, keeping you hooked but the volume also ends on a heart-wrenching cliffhanger that leaves you wanting more.
I can’t wait for volume 2 to come out in English. If you're up for a intense (and painful) read, this manga is worth diving into!
